    Spring Migration Guided Birding Walk

    Saturday, May 2, 8-9 AM

    Join us for a guided birding walk to witness the wonder of spring migration in full swing! Led by Mike McAloon, a birdwatcher and biologist, you will learn basic birding skills to help you spot warblers, thrushes, sparrows, flycatchers, and more. Mike has extensive experience in environmental and general biology teaching, research, and fieldwork. He currently teaches at Taft School, and we are honored that he is sharing his knowledge and passion for this event. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just curious about the avian world, all are welcome! Bring binoculars and water (tick and insect repellent are available at the trailhead).

  • The Enchanted Forest: Faeries, Fables, and Fairytales

    Back by popular demand, this free beloved magical exhibition returns to Firefly Gallery. Step into a whimsical indoor world of artful installations made from antique treasures and forgotten artifacts. Perfect for dreamers of all ages—faerie wings encouraged!

    Open Access 10 AM - 6 PM

    Join us for a free, interactive outdoor experience for all ages. Enjoy Secret Lives of Forest Creatures, a 32-sign scavenger hunt; Gifts of the Forest, a 12-banner Story Walk along the trail; mindfulness prompts to encourage reflection, and art installations celebrating the beauty of nature.

  • Guided Trail Walk Meditation

    Saturday, June 6, 10 am - 12 pm

    Join us for a Guided Trail Walk Meditation led by Brian Vaugh, an ordained Buddhist Priest. Brian will offer instruction on the foundations of walking meditation — including posture, breath awareness, intentional movement, and cultivating present-moment awareness and silence. Participants will learn to engage the senses gently and move mindfully along the trail. Attendees will then divide into small groups to practice on separate trails before reconvening for a facilitated discussion and debrief at the trailhead. This free event is open to all experience levels and emphasizes mindfulness, reflection, and connection with nature. Due to the nature of this event, space is limited.     About Brian Vaugh

    Brian Vaugh is an ordained Buddhist Priest in the Zen Tradition since 2000.  He has studied various religions, starting with his time in a  Catholic monastic seminary.  He has been a Hospice chaplain and a prison chaplain.  He says being a hospital chaplain was his most rewarding ministry. Brian is a fan and admirer of Wayne Dyer and his Wisdom of the Tao, and finds even more wisdom from his bunch of grandchildren. He offers "the Tao is like putting  on a pair of glasses that improve your vision and your  attitude."

    October 17 - November 17

    Open Access 10 AM - 5 PM

    Join us for an experience of quiet reflection and shared connection. This free, self-guided, trail-based program provides a unique opportunity for families and individuals of all ages to honor loved ones, embrace healing, and explore remembrance traditions across cultures. Visitors can also participate in meaningful, hands-on activities, including rock painting, a remembrance display, and a wind telephone.
