Wind Telephone
Wind Telephone Dedication
This beautifully crafted wind telephone was built and donated with love in memory of a beloved daughter, sister, and cherished friend, Camsie Anna Thickett, by Jeanne and Pete Whalen.
Wind telephones, also known as "kaze-no-denwa" or "phones of the wind," are unconnected telephone booths designed to provide a space for people to express grief and connect with deceased loved ones. They are not connected to any phone lines and are intended for those who wish to speak their thoughts and feelings to those they have lost. The concept originated in Japan following the 2011 tsunami and has since spread to other locations as a means of processing grief and finding solace.
This phone offers a space for reflection, connection, and healing. Visitors are invited to pick up the receiver and speak their hearts aloud, carried by the wind to those they miss. May it serve as a place of comfort, remembrance, and quiet conversation beyond words.
